The Renault TRIBER: feature loaded and easy on the pocket Until August 2020, MPVs in this country were positioned only on their features such as the seating capacity, luggage space, looks, comfort and safety. We did not have an MPV with thoughtful attributes like innovative EasyFix seats for comfortable seating, length of the vehicle, lots of interior storage space, and a competitive price. The latter set of features became relevant and important to the customers after the launch of the Renault TRIBER. Besides including all the benefits of a conventional MPV, the Renault TRIBER features a set of fresh new benefits that were unheard of in this category. Let us look at these features that created an excitement in the MPV segment and made the car a runaway success: •Sub 4-metre length: Unlike the Ertiga, which measures 4395 mm in length and appears at primary spot in the MPV segment, the Renault TRIBER is just 3990 mm long. This makes TRIBER the only sub 4-metre 7-seater car in the country. •Seating comfort: Generally, reduced length results in cramped seating in all passenger rows, especially the last row. 2. •Modular Seating: In a typical MPV, all the seats are fixed. Also, the last row seats cannot be removed or reinstalled without professional help. However, the TRIBER’s modular seating arrangement makes managing the seating configuration a child’s play. Within minutes, the TRIBER can be transformed into a 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or a 7-seater car. This modular seating facility is the first of its kind in India. •Interior storage space: The Renault TRIBER features 31 litres of intelligently designed interior storage space besides the best-in-class boot space of 625 litres. This allows passengers to travel in comfort carrying all their life essentials. •Price: Ertiga dominated as the entry-level car in the MPV segment with a starting price of Rs. 7.59 lacs (ex. showroom Delhi). All other MPVs are priced much higher than the Ertiga. On the contrary, the Renault TRIBER starts at just Rs. 4.99 lacs (ex. showroom Delhi). This makes the TRIBER a far superior buy compared to any other MPV available in the Indian market today. There is long-standing notion in the auto world that if a car costs less, then it will be not have exciting features and safety elements. However, the combination of Renault TRIBER features and its price proves this wrong. Also, in the safety department, the car is loaded with features like ABS with EBD, speed alert warning, pedestrian protection, airbags etc. Recently Renault further refined its commitment to this segment. The newly launched Renault TRIBER features an AMT version that costs just Rs. 40,000 more than the manual drive model. So far AMT has not been available in cars like Ertiga that feature in less appealing spectrum of MPVs in India.
