  1. WHO ARE WE? We, Exim Consultants, began operations in the year 1983 in Chennai. We are a premier Consultancy Organization rendering services in the fields of Customs Taxation, Foreign Trade Policy and allied activities.

  3. WHAT CAN WE OFFER? We can offer DOCUMENTATION: Paper-work and documents needed by various agencies in the course of Import and Export. Installing proper documentation procedures by customizing the same to suit the individual requirements of our clients.

  4. IMPORTABILITY Interpretation of the Foreign Trade Policy requirements for finding out importability of the items needed.

  5. CUSTOMS CLASSIFICATION AND RATES OF DUTY: The heads under which the goods imported/to be imported are classifiable and the consequent rates of duty payable. This also involves interpretation of various exemption notifications.

  6. ASSISTANCE IN CLEARANCE THROUGH CUSTOMS: By arrangement with competent Clearing Agents. CUSTOMS ADJUDICATIONS: Rendering all assistance in the course of customs adjudication proceeding arising out of valuation, licence validity and alleged mis-declaration (drafting, advocacy and follow-up) (Quasi judicial proceedings).

  7. CLASSIFICATION DISPUTES: Representing importers in disputes arising out of incorrect classification at the time of assessment.

  8. REFUNDS: Lodging refund claims where duty is excess levied, follow-up and realization. Also ruling out “unjust enrichment” as part of the proceeding.

  9. FINALISATION: Finalisation of Provisional Assessments and cancellation of Bond/Bank Guarantee executed with Customs.

  10. APPEALS, REVISIONS AND TRIBUNAL PROCEEDINGS: Drafting, filing and follow up of Appeals with Departmental Appellate Fora. Appeals to the Tribunal in Customs cases. Appear before the concerned authorities for personal hearing to represent the cases effectively.

  11. CUSTOMS VALUATION: Representing clients in customs valuation proceedings whenever imports are made from related parties. Related Special Valuation Branch cases.

  12. EXPORT INCENTIVES: Advice on applicability quantum and procedure for realization of export incentive of Duty Drawback. Filing Duty Drawback brand rate applications; follow-up and realization (for physical as well as deemed exports).

  13. DEMAND NOTICES Drafting replies and follow up in cases of custom demand notices.

  14. BAGGAGE CASES On the question of incorrect levy and adjudications in case of imports by passengers / tourists as well as non-tourist

  15. OTHER CUSTOMS MATTERS All other customs matters including customs bonding, case for reduction of or exemptions from duty.etc.

  16. FOREIGN TRADE POLICY Interpretation of Import and Export policy and procedures and advice on importability/ exportability of various products and the procedural and documentation requirements.

  17. IMPORT LICENCE AND OTHER APPLICATION Interpretation of the export and import licence application, filing, follow-up and obtaining the licence/ Authorizations/ scrips. Import licence for Restricted items. Advance Authorization under the duty exemptions scheme. Export Promotion Capital Goods licences(EPCG) Duty Exemptions Pass Book(DEPB) Other types of licences.

  18. LICENCE VALIDITY Advice on validity of licences for the goods sought to be imported.

  19. EXPORT HOUSE ACTIVITIES Obtaining Export Houses and Trading House Certificates by proper application, advocacy and follow-up. Renewal of such certificates.

  20. EXPORT ORIENTED UNITS Obtaining approvals for setting up Export Oriented units. Interpretations of Policy and procedures relating thereto.

  21. SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE UNITS Advice on setting up such Zones and also units in the same. Formation of such units.

  22. OTHER IMPORT and EXPORT TRADE CONTROL MATTERS Appeals, Revisions and Representations to Import and Export Trade Control authorities on other decisions affecting the legitimate interests of the business community. Drafting, advocacy and follow-up.

  23. CHOICE OF SCHEMES Right choice of Export Promotion Schemes like Export Promotion Capital Goods Scheme (EPCD) Duty Exemptions and Remissions Scheme, Duty Exemptions Pass Book Scheme (DEPB) and Duty Drawback.
