Walk-up Computers (Merle VanDyke) • Laundry Room Walk-up Computers • In the past, the laundry room computers have been connected to the Internet via wireless adapters. This method of connection was a constant problem as the wireless signal from the ceramics room to the laundry room was marginal in signal strength and resulted in slow access and many reboots. • Late last season an Ethernet cable was installed from the ceramics room modem/router to the laundry room and connected to a local router. The computers were then hardwired to the local router’s Ethernet connections. Since that time, the required maintenance to these computers has been negligible. The laundry room router is “open” which provides another local wireless signal for guests and their laptops. • Dust and computers is always a problem. This week both of the computers were temporarily removed and the considerable accumulated dust blown out. • Ccleaner was used this week to remove several programs from the computers that had been installed over time by the users.
CRCC Technical Support • Tech Support is not a “mandate” it is a “volunteer” activity • Help staff are in short supply • Often overbooked (significant time commitment) • Need to recruit new help volunteers • Help prioritized to members • Non-member requests will be referred to Club meeting for assistance and encouraged to join • Club will maintain list of volunteers & skill sets
Transition to Yuma Technical Issues (John Dennison) • Internet Access (Bulk Residential Rate) • Modems • Wireless Routers • Hot Spots • E-mail Accounts • Computer maintenance
