The title of the project: „Impactof improvement in psychosocial working conditions on thereduction of economic costs in companies undergoing modernization and adaptation processes – a research project” Project according to the requirements of the competition directed to companies with the exception of the sphere of public finances

  2. The maingoal Developmentand dissemination of a new tool supportingcompanies in planning OHS strategies whiletaking into account the psychosocial risk management and estimation of its economic costs

The project concerns only the assessment of the psychosocial risk in the company- the first stage of psychosocial risk management Stagesof psychosocial risk management:I- Riskassessment,II-Preparation of an action planIII-ImplementationIV-Evaluation of the implementationprocessV-Lessonslearntand exchange of experiences

  4. Method of newtool development 1. Interviewswith experts from 15sectors2. First version of the survey and a pilot study on a group of 750 employees3. Second version of the questionnaire for testing 7623employees4. Finalversion of the survey

The mainworkstressors • Poor workorganization, • Inflexible working hours and lack of possibilityto regulate the workspeed, • Increased external control, • Unclear expectations fromsuperiors, • Poor interpersonal relations, • Lack of opportunitiesfor professional development, • Requirement of evening & weekend availability

Some of the conclusions from the research • Sick leaves in case of workersexpsed to stressors in theirworkplacelast 3 to 4 dayslongerthansickleaves of workerswithoutjobstressors; in case of problems with interpersonal relations sickleavelasts 5 to 9 dayslonger and in bullyingcasesup to 10 dayslonger • The singlesfeel less stress in case of disturbances in work-homebalancethan those in stable relations and divorced. • Psychosocialrisks at work result in: - Higher absenteeism, - Higher staffturnover, - Worse health indicators and level of ability to work, - Weakeridentification with the company - Lower levels of satisfaction from work

  7. Conclusion for the employers Challengingcontent of the work, challenging workconditions and higherresponsibility areassociated with better indicators of health, commitment to work and jobsatisfaction

  8. Formof research • onlinesurvey • papersurvey 68 questions in the survey + 9 to 16 for sectoralissuesdepending on the type of industry

Description of the survey • Part A – General informationincluding with demographic data: sex, age, education, form and typeof employment,workseniority, post. • Part B - 18 questions on: • physical health (including sick leave) • satisfaction with 7 aspects of work (type of work, organization, conditions, wages, development opportunities, relations with superiors and colleagues) • level and motivation for work (including willingness to change a workplace)

Part C on features ofwork that could constitutea psychosocialhazard:a) workcontent, workload, working timeb) work context:supervision, culture, interpersonalrelations, responsibility, career development, reconciliation of work and private life c) Pathology – exposure to aggression,mobbing, harassment, discrimination IV.
