  3. Asia Pacific will continue to be the Top Crude Oil Consuming Region in 2020 Crude oil consumption in Asia Pacific increased from 16,450,000 barrels per day in 1996 to 23,788,900 barrels per day in 2010 at a CAGR of 2.6%. The consumption is expected to increase at a CAGR of 1.5% in the forecast period. This strong growth of oil and gas demand will provide the impetus for huge investments in the midstream and downstream sectors of Asia Pacific in the next decade. Asia Pacific’s oil and gas industry has been relatively shielded from the recent global economic recession due to continued growth in the demand from China and India. Further, these two countries are expected to drive the growth in Asia Pacific and the global oil and gas industry in the next decade.
