What is Arizona College Preparatory? • Quite simply, the purpose of Arizona College Preparatory is to provide students with an academic program of study to prepare them for a successful college and professional career. • Accomplished through a research-based program of study, including a STEM and humanities focus in addition to elective opportunities.

Why Arizona College Preparatory? • Connections • Small campus community provides all faculty and staff with opportunities to connect with your child and to know them as a person in the classroom and outside of the school setting. • Community • Real-world community. Students work together and know one another. Upperclassmen help and mentor underclassmen. • Content • Coursework and instruction prepare students for a seamless transition to college.

  8. ACP Program of Study • Students can focus on an academic track that closely aligns with their personal and collegiate goals; • Accelerated and core tracks available; • Numerous elective opportunities; • Dual enrollment/AP opportunities; • Students can earn up to 80 college credits.

ACP Program of Study • Dual Credit Opportunities • Students have the opportunity to earn dual credit from Chandler Gilbert Community College • Must earn a “C” or higher in the course to earn the credit • Advanced Placement Opportunities • Advanced placement exams are offered through the College Board • Students scoring 3-5 on the exam might be awarded college credit • Each university is unique. It is critical that families research the AP requirements.

ACP Program of Study • High School Program of Study • State University Requirements (CUSD Requirements) • English – 4 credits • Math – 4 credits • Science – 3 lab science credits • Social Studies – 2 credits (CUSD 3 credit requirement) • Fine Arts – 1 fine arts credit • World Language – 2 credits (CUSD no credit requirement) • Physical Education – 0 credits (CUSD 1 credit requirement) • Comprehensive Health – 0 credits (CUSD ½ credit requirement) • Elective Courses – 0 credits (CUSD 5 ½ credits) • TOTAL REQUIRED CREDITS – 16 (CUSD 22 credits)

  11. A Typical Freshmen Schedule All courses are based on student need/interest • Honors English • Honors Biology • Honors Geometry • Honors World History -or- AP World History • Electives (two) • PE • Modern Language

  12. Modern Language Options ACP students may choose to enroll in Spanish, Mandarin Chinese or ASL. A closer look… • NAU:  Will only take 8th grade language, and it would have to be listed on the transcript in order to get credit for it.  Students will needto take at least a year of that same language in high school.   • U of A:Will not accept any grade from middle school but will count the coursework toward the 16 core courses. If the course is posted on the transcript, and they take two full years of the language, their language requirement for enrollment is met. • ASU:Will give credit (but no grade) as long as they have taken 1 year of that language in high school(ASU assumes that in order to pass level 3 in high school, they would have needed to take levels 1 & 2 before, somewhere). Students will need to take at least 1 year of that same language in high school.

Becoming a Knight • Submit an application; to download applications, visit our school’s website; • All applicants will take a placement assessment on Saturday, January 26 (Oakland campus); • Interviews will be conducted Saturday, February 23 (Erie campus); • Letters will be mailed February 28.
