This research focuses on understanding the demand for school choice among Jeffco parents and the feasibility of establishing new schools in the district. We aim to assess the current ease of enrollment in choice programs and ensure families receive sufficient information about their options. Through a combination of email questionnaires and focus groups, we will gather insights from parents, including those of preschool children, to inform potential improvements in school choice policies and practices. Recommendations will be based on comprehensive data analysis.

School Choice Getting Parent & Community Input
Purpose & Use: Research Questions 1. What is the current demand for school choice from Jeffco parents? • Based on the information we have today, do we think Jeffco’s “marketplace” could support new schools? If so, what and where should they be? • Does charging for transportation, etc., to choice programs inhibit choice? 2. What is the ease of ‘choicing’ and open enrolling for Jeffco Families? • Is it easy enough to apply to choice options? • Are the systems in place that support choice sufficient to make choices easily available? • Do families have sufficient information about schools and the choice process? • Would an all-online choice enrollment process hinder enrollment?
