Student Card (for registering attendance for lectures – ask your lecturer how to do this at your first lecture) 3. Money 4. Laptop (Your lecturers will inform you if you need it) 5. Sweater (if you find lecture theatres or labs too cold) 6. Labcoat, safety glasses and covered shoes (for practicals otherwise you will not be allowed to attend the practical) 7. Sports attire (For Sports and Wellness)
WHAT IS NOT ALLOWED IN SCHOOL Coming Late/Absent If you are later than 15 minutes for any lesson, you will be considered as ABSENT. If you are absent for more than 80% of your lessons for a module, you are debarred from exams for that particular module – more or less implies failure (REPEAT module!!!) • 5 good reasons why you should not come late for classes • you miss the first part of the lesson- you disrupt others listening to the lecture/practical- you have less time to do the practical- your partner has to do your work for you (practicals) • start of lesson may have to be delayed just for you
*If you are sick and have a medical certificate • 1. When you come back to school, get a pink form from • the general office (Blk 83, level 4), • Attach your MC, fill in the form, and get the lecturers • and your mentor to sign at relevant places. • Deposit it in the MC box near staff pigeon holes • of general office
WHAT IS NOT ALLOWED IN SCHOOL • Dishonesty in various forms • Some examples • Lending your student card to friends so that they can • swipe/register attendance for you while you ‘pontang’ lectures • Periodic spot checks on attendance have been done before • Warning!: The penalty for misuse of student cards are much more • severe than missing a lecture.
(2) copying your classmates’ assignments or cutting and pasting from the Internet and presenting it as your own work. It is very easy to detect copying because the style and vocabulary of the text copied is often very different from students’ language Copying can result in getting zero for your assignments or even disciplinary action (eg for project reports)
