Access • You will need your University ID card to get into the Library. • It is also your borrowing card. You will need it if you have any enquiries about your username & password.
Finding information SOLAR Searches the Library’s print resources and electronic collections, and provides access to our databases.
Electronic Resources • journal articles • e-books • newspapers • company & market reports • technical information & standards Coverage includes: • legislation & legal information • financial data • maps • theses • citation searching • current awareness
Borrowing • You may borrow 25 books at a time. • A normal loan is 12 weeks. • Fines are charged for overdue books. • The Library can purchase books to support your research. • Inter-library loan service for items not in stock.
Access to other libraries • Postgraduates may use and borrow from other university libraries. • For more information see: SCONUL Access http://www.access.sconul.ac.uk/ Please note: licensing agreements mean that you won’t be able to use the electronic journals of other universities.
IT Services • Username & password. • F: drive – network space where you can securely save your work. • Student email account.
EndNote • EndNote is bibliographic management software that will: • Help you manage large amounts of information. • Automatically format bibliographies and citations, in any output style (e.g. APA, Chicago, MLA, Vancouver). Other Useful Software for research analysis NVivo & SPSS training is run through the SPoRT programme. EndNote, NVivo & SPSS can be purchased at discounted prices for home use (free on campus).
