  3. GCSE Catering GCSE Hospitality Unit 3: Planning and running an event where you cater for at least 10 people in a team Unit 4: 1 ¼ hour exam • Unit 1: 2 controlled assessment projects where you make a meal e.g. Serving a buffet for a group of parents based on dairy foods • Unit 2 1 ¼ hour exam

  4. Why is it a good choice? What do you need to be able to do? Work as a team Follow health and safety rules Communicate well Cook everything! Bring ingredients every week from home Be organised • Cooking for events is good fun and a realistic way of understanding the catering trade. • Cooking is a good life skill. • Learn for jobs in the hospitality industry. Restaurant manger Chefs Waiter/waitress Bar manager Hotel manger Receptionist

  5. What is a Food GCSE not? • Food is not an easy subject as you have to be organised • You won’t simply cook whatever you want and then sit round and eat it, both Food options are academic • There is lots of written work as with all the GCSE food subjects 60% is based on the controlled assessment parts which are evidenced by writing and photos See Miss Woodrow, Miss Wessenor Miss Rance for more information.
