  1. By Callum Barker Ellis Hollings Alex Knapper The Backlands Pitch

  2. Genre • We were given the choice between comedy and horror, we have chosen horror. • The reason for this is that we have decided that it would be easier to come up with ideas for it and that we could come up with a much better film than if we had chosen the other genre. • We needed a horror name, the place we decided to record is called the backlands and we decided this would be the perfect name so “The Backlands” was created.

  3. Horror • We looked at what made a film a horror, to do this we looked at other horror films like “The Descent” for example. After researching many horror films we discovered that next to no horror has been set in a forest, and after thinking about it we decided it would be the perfect place for a horror to be set. • We went in search for a good place for it to be set and found the forest called ‘the backlands’ was perfect

  4. What Makes It A Horror. • Our film will include the codes and conventions of a horror film, it will have the low lights sometimes flickering, the masked murderer and abnormal sounds and enigma codes most commonly associated with horror.

  5. The Plot • The plot for our film is that a small group of friends have recently stumbled upon a secluded path into the woods and decide to go on an adventure, little did they no it is inhabited by a homicidal maniac who is determined to kill who ever trespasses in the woods. • Though in the scenes one person gets killed and it might seem early in the film, however by not seeing who it is or what it is it creates suspense in the film and will make the film a lot better.

  6. Audience • We have decided to aim our film at an audience of the age 15+, the reason for this is because it will include characters shown at the same age so the audience can relate to them, the film will also include the language that the younger audience can relate to. The characters will also be wearing clothes that the younger audience will be wearing • However even though we have decided to aim our films at an audience of 15 plus, we have not made the language too modern, and will try to make the realism of the film as great as possible so that it would appeal to an older audience.

  7. Script • You have been given a copy of the script to look upon. Our script includes the stage directions and the dialog for the film. • The script may not look like it includes a great deal of dialog but we have found that this creates suspense in a horror film, when it all goes silent.
