  3. CAM Regulation Federation of State Medical Boards has provided a new model guideline informing physicians what they are to do when counseling patients about CAM use.

Credible Resources for Health Care Providers In 2011, NCCAM introduced a new evidence-based online resource for CAM. • Resource can be found at http://www.nccam.nih.gov/health/providers/ • Includes • Safety and efficacy information • Clinical practice guidelines • Research study summaries • Patient fact sheets

  5. Other Credible Websites for CAM Information • Office of Dietary Supplements (http://ods.od.nih.gov): Goal is to educate the public about dietary supplement information and research. • U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) (http:// www.fda.gov): The FDA ensures the safety of many CAM choices, including dietary supplements, medicines, foods, and medical devices. • PubMed (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov): PubMed can provide numerous scientific and medical articles on CAM therapies.

CAM Pediatric Credible Resources • American Academy of Pediatrics • Section on Complementary and Integrative Medicine (SOCIM) • Mission: To develop and identify educational opportunities and advocate for CAM pediatric research • www.aap.org • Pediatric Complementary and Alternative Medicine Research and Education Network (PedCAM) • Mission: Dissemination of CAM information, building collaborative relationships between researchers, educators, clinicians, and policy makers, nationally and internationally
