  1. How modern office design must address employee well-being Modern office designs have become a part of every other organization. However, the challenge lies in creating an office environment that also focuses on employee well-being. Well here are some of the major factors that can address this issue. Let’s have a look at how this problem can be solved in a better way. Layout: Layout mainly refers to the entire office space and arrangements of objects within that setup. There should be harmony within the open spaces and arrangement of furniture. Sufficient gapings need to be there within which employees do their work on the office desk. This helps to enhance the productivity of employees in the long run. Space crunch can make the atmosphere claustrophobic which every employee wants to avoid. So it is imperative to work on it, whether it is an open space office or a closed space office. Colour: Based on different researches, it has been found that colour affects the mood as well as the productivity of the employees. It has been observed that shades like grey, beige and white can bring monotony in an office environment. To boost efficiency and focus, one can work with hues like green and blue that is more associated with nature. Some other promising shades are yellow and orange that symbolizes optimism, freshness and energy and is a great design idea for offices dealing with the creative genre. To get the best colour scheme for your office, work on the combination of these bold shades that improve both employee well-being and office design. Lighting: The lighting is an integral aspect of both office design as it directly impacts the work performance of an employee. In the absence of proper lighting in an office space employees will not be able to carry out their daily work chores. Natural and artificial lighting gets reflected through walls and ceilings that result in a certain degree and quality of illumination in the workspace.

  2. There should be both adequate ambient and task lighting to enhance the feel of the workspace; otherwise, it can lead to eye strain, headache, and other postures associated with back pain. Besides, access to natural lighting reveals that it can reduce 84% of problems related to bad lighting. Greenery: Mental wellness constitutes an essential part of employee productivity. According to one of the surveys conducted it has been observed that employees who work in offices having natural features have 15% greater well-being and creativity and 6% more productivity than the ones who work in a standard setup. Nowadays, office spaces are incorporating greenery in their interiors not just horizontally but also vertically. The vertical biophilia is quite a trend and injects a lively feel in the office atmosphere. Many office interior designers in Pune are creating collaborative green spaces that also improves the air quality in the offices.

  3. Sound: As many contemporary offices are focusing on open spaces, the concept of sound has become a vital parameter that affects work productivity. High levels of noises can have negative consequences on both physical and psychological well-being. To have a good acoustic design in your office space, a freestanding screen or desk can be added to reduce the travelling noise levels. Some interior elements like acoustic tiles, acoustic panels and carpeted flooring can help in trapping the excess noises. Comfort: Physical comfort of an employee is an essential factor for achieving optimum productivity. The office furniture must have a health-supporting capacity to reduce the pain from continuous work shifts of eight hours. Ergonomically designed furniture like chairs, hot-desks, sit-stand workstations, footrests, monitors at proper eye level ensures that comfort is maintained properly. All these factors need to be considered while designing office space if you wish to enhance employee well-being and productivity.
