  2. Daniel Defoe Nasce a Londra nel 1660 da una famiglia della media borghesia. Tra il 1680 e il 1683 compie numerosi viaggi in giro per l'Europa dedicandosi al commercio. Tra il 1704 e il 1713 si dedica al giornalismo. La pubblicazione di "Robinson Crusoe" (1719) segnò una svolta della sua vita e cambiò le sorti del romanzo europeo.
