  1. IDMS Conversion Certification Presentation 10/28/09 Project Certification Committee

  2. Project Overview Description Conversion of historical/legacy data from IDMS Databases to MS SQL 2005 databases Rewrite of legacy inquiry applications into a TRD supported DBMS web-based application Justification Continues to make available historical tax data for research, collection, and release of liens Eliminates $500,000 - $1,000,000 annual associated mainframe IDMS costs

  3. IDMS Conversion Deliverables • IDMS Data Extraction • SQL Server DBMS Design • Migration of Data to MS SQL Server • Rewrite of Inquiry functionality in a web-based application • Acceptance by end users of application functionality • Implementation of web-based application into Production environment

  4. Accomplishments • Completed within budget • Moved into production – 05/01/2009 • Purchased disaster recovery hardware for business continuity (virtualized blade servers).

  5. DoIT System Impact • Production hardware residing at DoIT Data Center • Production implementation of Web-based application will not impact DoIT – data is legacy and has very low usage. • Disaster Recovery equipment will not be housed at DoIT (by definition must be elsewhere).

  6. Security Strategy • Utilizes current TRDsecurity structure • Groups • Functions • Roles • Incorporated into current TRD backup schedule • Full backups done bi-weekly • Differential backups done on other nights

  7. Conclusion • The IDMS replacement web-based application continues to make available historical tax data for research, collection, and release of liens • Enables TRD ITD to provide our end-users (TRD tax collectors) a more efficient and user- friendly access to statistical reports and data • Eliminates $500,000 - $1,000,000 annual associated mainframe IDMS costs
