Why “Rural” Connection….. • Of the 44 counties in Idaho, 35 are considered to be rural. Telling the story: the dance of collaboration and our commitment to finding solutions where rural, urban, and academic partners meet… Since sixty-seven percent of Idaho residents are from rural or frontier counties, it is inevitable that the urban nurse will care for patients from a rural community, and rural nurses will care for someone from an urban community. It is the hope of the creators of the Nurses as Teachers curriculum that we help create cultural competency regarding the people we serve by building an understanding and appreciation of the uniqueness of rural and urban nursing in Idaho.
