  5. Appearance • Odd number of leaves generally.

  6. Dried • Greenish-brown

  7. How Taken • Usually smoked in hand rolled cigarettes. • Smoked in pipes and bongs. • May be ingested in foods.

  8. Effects • Euphoric feeling • Increased sense of well being • Lack of motivation • Lowered inhibitions • Talkative • Increased appetite • Impaired coordination, concentration and memory

  9. Dangers • THC may stay in body for a month or longer in brain, testes and ovaries • Short term memory loss

  10. Slowed reactions • Interferes with brain in understanding concepts.

  11. Regardless of the THC content, the amount of tar inhaled by marijuana smokers and the level of carbon monoxide absorbed are three to five times greater than among tobacco smokers. This may be due to marijuana users inhaling more deeply and holding the smoke in the lungs.

  24. A large new epidemiological study suggests that marijuana smoke can cause the same types of respiratory damage as tobacco smoke. Significant associations between marijuana smoking and a variety of respiratory diseases also have been confirmed by an extensive review of clinical literature. (NIDA 2006)
