SDL Forum Society work towards standards

The SDL Forum Society aims to promote the Specification & Description Language (SDL) and its related standards, while also serving as a platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing among members. The society organizes regular meetings, workshops, and working groups to develop texts and propose recommendations to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and other relevant organizations.

  2. Before the Society SDL Forum Meetings • Every two years from 1983 • Initially Specification & Description Language • By 1989 (4th) included at leastMessage Sequence Chart • Fees at 4th Forum (small profit) • Non-profit organisation 5th Forum

Formation of the Society • 1993 Darmstadt permanent Society • 1995 Officially constituted • 1996 Scope “promotion not standards” WWW site to be set up Membership fees introduced • 1997 Society as it is now First “emeetings”? • 1998 First SAM workshop • 1999 SDL-2000 jointly produced Society linked to ITU, meetings joint.

  4. Role wrt Recommendations • Promote ITU System Design Languages X.680 …, Z.120…, Z.100 …, Z.140 … • Participated in standards (Z.100, Z.120) • Obtain feedback from members • Role on methodology (?) • Led to formation of SDL Task Force • Now proposes a Z.100 Working Group
