  3. Become an “Expert”! • Build a portfolio of work related to your topic that includes: • A Research Paper • A Data Analysis • An Independent Investigation • A Creative Expression that educates others about your topic • Reflections that document the process and progress of your work

  4. Quick Talk with Neighbor Look at the web you made… • What are three interesting or important things you learned about your topic?

  5. Questions What are three questions you still have about your research topic? Something you do not understand or would like to learn more about?

  6. Sample Web ISSUE/INITITATIVE Begin to look at the subtopics on your web in terms of PROBLEMS or ISSUES/INITIATIVES. PROBLEM

  7. Paper Formats Problem • A cause and effect paper • What is the cause of the problem • What is the effect of the problem • What are possible solutions Issue/Initiative • A pro/con paper • What are the pros of the initiative • What are the cons of the initiative • What alternative exist?

Sample Topic: Air pollution and the number of vehicles on the roads in Delhi Problem: Traffic in Delhi • Introduction: Provide background information on the current traffic problems that Delhi is facing as well as your thesis • Causes: What is causing  these traffic problems? • Effects: What effect does this traffic have on the residents of Delhi? • Solutions: What can be done to reduce the problems of traffic in Delhi? • Conclusion: Synthesize major points of the paper and provide your reaction and recommendations
