IBM Maximo ACM Product Overview • What does it do? • Maximo ACM is an ‘add-on’ solution to the core Maximo Asset Management application. • Maximo ACM enables the ‘as designed’ configuration of a complex asset to be defined and from this the ‘as maintained’ configuration to be maintained and validated throughout the asset lifecycle. • How do customers use it in their business? • Customers typically use Maximo ACM across the majority of their business departments for Engineering, Planning, Supply Chain and Work Management • How does it help them in their business? • Maximo ACM helps customers to ensure that their assets are in the correct configuration for the planned operations, supports safety and regulatory needs, optimises inventory and maximise asset availability • How is ACM different than core Maximo? • Maximo ACM adds 39 applications over and above core Maximo.

New Capabilities in v7.5.1 • This releases adds new capabilities that are important for the commercial and military aviation markets • Flight Log Book (FLB) • Progressive Inspection Program (PIP) • MSG-3 support • The FLB and PIP capabilities were developed with a Maximo ACM Development Partner • The best practices for clients using AMC with Maximo for Transportation offer benefits to all current or future clients using AMC and Transportation

  14. Flight Log Book (FLB) • The Flight Log Book was initially released in v7.5.0.2 to a limited set of customers. In V7.5.1 FLB is available to all customers • The Flight Log Book is made up of a combination of operational and maintenance records that provide a record of the following: • Aircraft/aircrew flight information and servicing data. • Engine operational data. • When the next scheduled maintenance inspection is due. • When the next special inspection or item replacement is due. • Discrepancies and correcting information. • Aircraft and mission-related equipment condition status. • Uncorrected or deferred faults or maintenance. • Weapon's firing data (if applicable) • A FLB is for one aircraft only, and stays with the aircraft for it’s life.

Flight Log Book Status • The Flight Log Book record shows four different statuses: • Aircraft status • The overall status of the aircraft. • Discrepancy status • A discrepancy is any maintenance event associated with the aircraft or one of its components. The discrepancy status is linked to the overall aircraft status. Each discrepancy record has its individual status. When there is more than one discrepancy record, the one with the most severe status is linked to the aircraft status. • Flight log book status • The status of the flight log book record, which is not linked to the serviceability status of the aircraft. • Deferral status • The status of the discrepancy deferral. A deferral is a formal process for delaying the completion schedule of maintenance items. A deferral may be required for reasons such as availability of spare parts, accessibility or operational imperatives.

Client Benefits of the Flight Log Book (1 of 2) • Many clients are currently using paper or manual methods, the FLB will help reduce time to enter data via an iintuitive data entry interface - it is in effect an electronic representation of the traditional paper log book. • FLB allows the flight and ground crew to enter data directly reducing the number of errors • Reduces possible errors in translation of flight crew write-ups into Operations, Maintenance • Flight and ground crews can directly enter information on any issue, reducing the time before corrective action is scheduled • Eliminates the use of paper-based log books required to be carried by crew members, which reduces weight and fuel consumption. • Coordinates data between flight and ground staff and increase maintenance efficiency.

Client Benefits of the Flight Log Book (2 of 2) • Operational / Mission Availability - the aircraft status is automatically updated based on the flight status and discrepancy status giving a clear indication of the availability of the aircraft for operations. • Provides real time administrative and aircraft health information from the aircraft to flight operations, maintenance, and parts warehouse, so that organizations can make high value decisions in real time. • Integrates ground-based and aircraft-based data in real time, expediting operational and maintenance decision-making. • Immediate access to all aircraft data for historical analysis and decision-making; eliminating the need to search and sort through thousands of paper documents. • Reduces aircraft operations turn-around time for next flight\mission.

  18. Progressive Inspection Program (PIP) • The Progressive Inspection Program was initially released in v7.5.0.2 to a limited set of customers. In V7.5.1 PIP is available to all customers. • A Progressive Inspection Program (PIP) is a type of aircraft maintenance program. • The principle of this type of maintenance cycle is that the period between each maintenance activity is fixed regardless of when the maintenance is started or completed.

  19. Example Progressive Inspection Program (PIP) • A 300 hour cycle that comprises of 6 equalized checklist elements that constitute a complete progressive inspection program (PIP) cycle • Each inspection checklist must be accomplished consecutively at 50-flight hour intervals • Each 50 hour interval will be computed from the beginning of the 300 hour PIP cycle, not from the last inspection completed • A checklist may start before scheduled, but must be completed on time

  20. Progressive Inspection Program Capabilities in v7.5.1 • PIP capability adds new fields and functions; • Master PM (CM) • PM (CM), • Assets (CM) • A PIP may only be set up for meter based frequencies. • A PIP may only be created for ACM related assets.

Client Benefits of the Progressive Inspection Program (PiP) • Provides clients to spread out inspections over the entire PIP cycle • Minimises asset down time • Increases asset availability • Complies with regulatory requirements • Allows inspections to be started earlier if that is convenient and/or cost effective • Does not reduce the quality of the inspection program.

  22. MSG-3 Support • Maximo ACM 7.5.1 addresses the need to comply with an aviation standard that an airline and other aircraft operators are required to comply with; it supports MSG-3 requirements to enable organisations to be compliant with the standard. • MSG-3 is maintained by the Airlines for America (A4A) organization • The new capabilities in Maximo ACM v7.5.1 support the MSG-3 requirements for the definition and identification of a range of items relating to the standard ; • Maintenance Significant items (MSI) • Structural Significant items (SSI) • Zonal Inspections • Corrosion Preventative Control Program (CPCP) • Access Requirements • This allows clients to efficiently define scheduled maintenance programs using an industry standard approach.

Best practices when using ACM with Maximo for Transportation • New capabilities added to ACM and Transportation to help implement best practices • Advanced warning when attempting to manage PMs for ACM managed assets in the PM (Tr) application • Advanced warning when attempting to manage PMs for ACM managed assets in the Asset Templates (Tr) application • Transportation solution now includes ACM’s calculated meter readings when determining warranty durations for ACM managed assets

  24. Other ACM enhancements • The ‘Registration’ field is no longer mandatory in the New Asset Assemblies (CM) application. This supports clients that have some assets that are registered (busses) and others are not (rail assets). • The history position tab (CM) was changed to list assets installed in the selected position under the current parent asset. • An option is now provided to allow maintenance certifications to apply up until the end of the month that the certification was issued • A column was added to show the aircraft due hours on each component in ACM • The receipt date is now displayed along with the transaction and move date on the view asset (CM) display

Pricing and Availability • No changes in Maximo ACM pricing or packaging • AU = $4530; S&S = $906 • Asset = $7090; S&S = $1420 • A Flight Log Book user does not need an ACM entitlement as long as they have a Maximo entitlement - either Express User, Limited Use User or Authorized User • Announce on August 27, 2013 • eGA on September 13, 2013 • pGA on October 4, 2013
