  1. WELCOME To Our Third Grade Classroom!

  2. Ms Hebba • My name is Ms. Hebba, I am your child's English and Science teacher, and I am delighted to have your child in my class this year. I am a doctor who found her passion in a classroom… I have been working for several years and all my work was with elementary grade level students. I have learnt from some of the best teachers around. • I am looking forward to a very successful year and I know you are too. I have high expectations for your child and I will do all that I can to help your child achieve those expectations.

  3. What our day looks like! • School starts at 7:30 am! Please don’t be late! • 9 (45minute) lessons with 2 breaks in the middle. • When the children come in to class in the morning they bring all their books and pencil cases and put them into the lockers. Bags and food stay outside in the cubbies. • Bellwork means they open their HW on their desks and take their Writing Journals out of the shelves. They then proceed to write a page in their journals about the previous day. This is to get them used to writing and to apply the things we have learned so far, also for me to be able to assess on a regular basis if they are picking up the new stuff or not. • Then we start to work!

  4. Behaviour! • I do not tolerate misbehavior in my classes and 2 warnings are given before a break detention. • Good behavior is rewarded with smileys on the treasure box chart, 10 smileys gets to pick a small gift from the treasure chest!

  5. HW!! • HW is always due the next day. It’s a way for them to practice what we have explained in class the same day. If there is something they haven’t quite grasped in class, I can tell by looking at the HW and repeat it if needed. Your child should be spending approx. 30 minutes per day on LA HW. • HW carries 20% of the final grade. • READING!!! Children must be reading at least 20 minutes per day any books that are grade level appropriate!!!

  6. Communication! • I want you to know that one of my most important goals this year is to keep the lines of communication open with you. I am available at hebbaelsherif@gpschool-eg.com . If you have any questions or concerns during the year do not hesitate to contact me. • If you would like to have a private meeting, I am available every Monday from 1:40-2:25 pm. All appointments need to be scheduled through the office.

  7. School Blog!! • I will be posting HW on a daily basis, but would prefer your children to be more independent about their HW assignments! HW is given in the Journeys Practice Book and they mark the page with a small house symbol during class. • I will also be posting at the end of the week the material that has been covered during the week. • The blog address is grade3ab.wordpress.com
