  3. State Definition Co-Teaching is a collaborative partnership between a generalist and a specialist who have shared accountability and ownership for planning and delivering instruction and assessment to all students within a classroom environment.

  4. Maryland’s Co-Teaching Network • Collaborative Initiative Between General and Special Education • Tools and Resources Related Specifically to Implementing Co-Teaching and Ensuring Fidelity • Online Co-Teaching Community

A Consistent Approach • Statewide Framework: • Definition of Co-Teaching for Maryland • Direction for enhancing instruction by providing access for students with disabilities • Guidance for quality implementation • Support for strategic planning in the district, school and classroom for all learners

Promoting Five Approaches • One Teach-One Assist (used routinely in conjunction with other approaches) • Station Teaching (use frequently) • Parallel Teaching (use frequently) • Alternative Teaching (use sparingly) • Team Teaching (use frequently with the caveat that flexible grouping is not eliminated from practice)
