  3. Question: Does acupuncture provide legitimate treatment for chronic back pain? Large split between those tat believe it and those that don’t.

  4. Why is this important? • Other alternatives • Medicare/ insurance companies • Modern Medicine cant heal everything perfectly • Ex. Chronic back pain, lazy eye, ect.

  5. Position • Affirmative stance • Acupuncture can be a legitimate form of treatment for many illnesses when preformed correctly

  6. What Con says: • Placebo effect • Studies of sham acupuncture • Difficult to measure human pain

  7. Pro • Sham acupuncture vs. Real case studies • Real acupuncture had more of an effect than the sham acupuncture • The government in 1997 formally recognized acupuncture as a healing option. • Prescribing acupuncture as a treatment
