  1. Important Things to Know about Puppy Training Most dog owners are of the view that their pet needs obedience training only when they behave in an unacceptable manner. The truth is that dog training is actually a way to strengthen your relationship with your dog. There is another misconception about dog training – you should not use this option when your dog is still very small. Again, that is not true because the moment your puppy opens their eyes, they are old enough to be trained. However, you need to proceed differently when training your puppy and that is why there are specialized puppy training centers available today. The techniques need to be different because puppies have short attention spans, so the training sessions need to be short, simple and fun. Your seven weeks old puppy is usually old enough to learn simple commands, such as “stay”, “sit”, etc. But, you need to be patient and take some time when training your puppy. Start with Basic Training When training your puppy, you need to bear in mind that they can learn quickly but have a small attention span. Therefore, your training sessions should be a few minutes long only. Puppies learn by association, so you need to have a reward system in place. Every time your puppy does something good, reward them. The timing of reward is critical. You should reward your puppy immediately, so they could associated it with the action. This way, they will repeat the same action in order to get the same treat. Start Socializing Your Puppy You should starting socializing your little pet by the time they are 7 weeks old. Puppies are very good with new people and other species. They are naturally curious about things and learn fast, and this socialization period will help them have positive memories that will last a lifetime. Between 7 and 14 weeks of age, puppies are exploratory, eager, and uninhibited, so you should take full advantage of this period and help them teach how you want them to behave later in life. Just be sure to protect them as well because negative experiences during this phase will also have a serious impact on their well-being.

  2. Take Advantage of Puppy Training Classes Many pet owners know nothing about puppy training, and if you also fall in the same category, you may benefit from a puppy training class. There will be professional trainers who demonstrate special techniques and help you learn how to train your puppy. They help identify certain puppy training problems and guide you how to correct them using exercises and other techniques. You can also meet other puppy owners and share your experience with them to develop a better understanding of raising a puppy in the right way. In short, you should not underestimate the importance of training your pet from very young age. Do not think that your puppy is very young to start learning anything. Just talk to a professional trainer and they will teach you everything about training your little friend. Articles source: http://myvigour.com/important-things-know-puppy-training/
