The great pyramids of giza The great pyramid has 2.3 million stone blocks. They were built by pharaoh khufu, khafre, and menkaure. There are 3 pyramids of giza.
How many pyramids were there? • Egyptologists used to think there were only 138 pyramids , but American students found that there were 17 more!
What were the pyramids built for • The ancient Egyptians built pyramids as tombs for the pharaohs and their queens. The pharaohs were buried in pyramids. Pyramids in the inside had hieroglyphics and paintings.
Who built the pyramids? • Pharaohs khufu , Pharaoh khafre, and Pharaoh menkuarebuilt the pyramids of Giza with their workers. Khufu built the biggest pyramid, ‘’The Great Pyramid’’
How did they build the pyramids? • Workers would carry stones over 100 pounds for two kilometers. Larger stones would be pulled on sleds and they wetted the ground.
What were the sphinx? • Carved from the bedrock of the Giza plateau the sphinx is truly a mysterious marvel from the days of ancient Egypt. The body of a lion the head of a god or pharaoh.
