  2. Monday, September 15th Spelling Quiz Self-Check Scores and Letter Grades 2 = A 1.75 = B+ 1.5 = C 1.25 = D− 1 = F You may improve your grade by re-doing any terms you got wrong on the back of your original quiz and turning it in by tomorrow. Write the term and use it in a sentence (just like on the quiz). Do NOT re-do the terms you did not get wrong! Do not turn your quiz back in unless you have corrections! Remember that you will lose points for misspelling one of our previous spelling terms in your sentence (e.g. “a lot”). These may be corrected in the same way. Important note: You may not re-do corrections. You need to do them right the first time! Take your time; check and double-check your corrections.

  3. Monday, September 15th Spelling Quiz Self-Check Spelling terms from 9/11: Remember that proper nouns should be capitalized; all other words should not. • Bellevue This is a proper noun (the name of a city), so it is capitalized. • Mr. Jensen Also a proper noun (person’s title and name), so both are capitalized. There is a space between “Mr.” and “Jensen.” • a lot Note that this is alwaysTWO words. There is no such word as “alot,” just as there is no such word as “alittle.” • Tillicum Middle School Note that this is another proper noun; it is the full name of our school, so all three words are capitalized. OTHER FREQUENTLY NOTICED MISTAKES: • Complete sentences must ALWAYS begin with a capital letter and end with a period, exclamation point, or question mark. (No points deducted this week.) • Always use a comma between city and state: Bellevue, WA or Bellevue, Washington (not Bellevue, W.A.).
