  1. Tier 3 PBiS No Tears Through the Tears April 2014

  2. Keeping it All Together • Connecting the Behavior Data Team to PBiS • Completing, Action Planning, and Reporting the Measures of Advanced Tiers Tool (MATT) three times per year. • Completing, Action Planning, and Reporting the Benchmarks for Advanced Tiers (BAT) once per year. • Completing and Sharing with our PBiS team the data collected through the Illinois PBiS Network Tier 2/Tier 3 Tracking Tool. • Overseeing the Individual Brief FBAs

  3. Illinois PBiS Network Tier 2/Tier 3 Intervention Tracking Tool

  4. How We Get to a Tier 3 Intervention

  5. Individual FBA Case Manager • PBiSBehavior Data Team assigns a case manager. • Case Manager contacts General Education Teacher within a week to set up a time to meet and conduct a brief FBA. • Many FBA’s are available – pick the one that works best for you and your team. • The FBA is completed and data collection methods are created. • An intervention plan is created and implemented based on the function of behavior. • Data is collected and reviewed for 6-8 weeks.

  6. AIM : Assess-Intervene-Monitor FBA Tool

  7. Keys to Interventions • Interventions must specifically target the behavior of concern and the function of the behavior found through the FBA. • PTR models are effective. How will you prevent the behavior of concern, teach the skills necessary to extinguish or minimize the behavior, and reinforce the desired behavior. • How will you determine if your intervention is effective?

  8. Keys to Data Collection • One basic measure is used to collect data. • Baseline data is collected prior to an intervention plan being implemented. • Data is collected at least once per week. • A peer comparison is also collected. This could be at baseline or throughout the intervention.

  9. Examples of Data Collection Tools A checklist measuring the attention given to a student who is attention seeking.

  10. Examples of Data Collection Tools

  11. Examples of Data Collection Tools

  12. Examples of Data Collection Tools Could be used for any number of basic measurements.

  13. Examples of Data Collection Tools Time on Task – also has ability to have a peer comparison. Could also be used to collect data on other behaviors – just code as needed. Another benefit is the ability to spread your intervals to your needs.

  14. Data Review • Throughout the Intervention period (6-8 weeks) the case manager trouble shoots and provides feedback to the General Education Teacher. • After 6-8 weeks, the Case Manager sits down with the General Education Teacher to review the data. • The Behavior Data Team also reviews the data at the twice monthly meeting. • Decisions will be made to return to a tier 2 intervention or to move forward with Child Find or Re-evaluation (if on a current IEP) with the local AEA.
