  3. Background: Stroke • Affects 700 000 each year • Occurs mostly in people over the age of 65 • Results in • Hemiplegia • Loss of memory • Loss of verbal skills • Death

  4. Background: Rehabilitation • Robot – aided therapy • Supination / pronation of the wrist • Flexion / extension of hand • Mechanical system • Visual cues MIT-Manus robot – aided therapy device

  5. Problem Statement Design a portable rehabilitation device, which is automated, universal, comfortable and will assist rehabilitation of supination / pronation of the wrist as well as finger flexion / extension during the acute phase post-stroke.
