  3. Many dictionaries are available online !

  4. Go to the library homepage : library.hct.ac.ae Pull down Resources

  5. Click on : Databases and E-Books

  6. Scroll down to Dictionaries and Encyclopedias

  7. When you click on Electric Library, you come to this page. Click REFERENCE

  8. Enter a keyword and click LOOK UP You can limit the sources by unticking the boxes.

  9. For example, type “toucan.” Then, click on the results. Easy !

  10. The 2nd choice from the Databases page is : Gale Virtual Reference Library Click on Dictionary or, Basic Search

  11. The 3rd choice from the Databases page is: Student Resource Center Gold Enter a search term, or click on Dictionary

  12. And another way to find online many dictionaries … Go back to the library homepage library.hct.ac.ae From Resources, click on Advanced Catalogue Search

  13. Type : dictionary From Material Type, choose : E-Books

  14. Wow ! There are 155 results. Notice the e-book icon

  15. After you click on a title, click on the link.

  16. There are 2 different formats of e-books : 1. ebrary 2. Net Library Here is sample page from ebrary

  17. To find a word in an ebrary book . . . Pull down Info Tools menu & click : Search Document

  18. For example, “OPEC.” It appears in red.

  19. Here is an example of a Net Library book. Click : View this eBook

  20. To find a word in a NetLibrary book . . . Click : Search and type the word

  21. Another possibility, many student computers have an online dictionary program. From Start, click Programs, then Microsoft Student ENCARTA Type the word in the search box.

  22. There is also an online dictionary inside the WORD 2007 program. Go to Review Then, Research. Highlight the word in text The definition comes up on right side
