  2. Childhood He was born in Baltimore, Maryland . His ancestors were early Maryland settlers and fought in the Revolution War. He was a clerk in his uncles tobacco farm. In Richmond, Virginia. He did not like it so he became a bookseller.

  3. Adulthood • He was a pretty good bookseller and when a company published one of his books and it made so much money they put him in the group. He created three theater. One of them was his famous Ford’s theater.

  4. Lincoln’s Assassination • John Ford was good friends with John Wilkes Booth. After the assassination, John Ford was arrested and put in jail along with his two brothers James and Harry Ford. He tried to ask if he could help with the investigation, but • Secretary of War, Edwin M. Stanton said nothing to his letters. The government bought the theater from him for 100,000 dollars. Ever since he hated the government.

  5. Death • He died in 1894. He died of a heart attack and left his widow Edith Ford and his eleven children. When he died, he only had ten of them that were living were living when he died.
