  1. Warm Up 9/11 • Answer the questions below as thoroughly as you can. • What does it mean to be invisible? Think of as many definitions as possible. • Describe a time when you felt invisible. Explain why you think that was.

  2. Learning Targets • I can establish background context for our reading of Invisible Man by conducting historical research. • I can work with a group to complete my portion of the assigned research by working both independently and collaboratively. • I can use the CRAAP test to ensure that the sources I find are valid. • I can work with a group to create a Google Slideshow on the group’s assigned topic in order to share our work with the class. • I can take notes on what my classmates present in order to provide context for the novel we’re about to read.

  3. Group work • In order to create some background context for this text, we are going to do some research. • First, let’s discuss some CRAAP. • Next, break into groups to find FIVE main aspects of your assigned topic. For each main aspect, identify as 2-3 supporting points and one image (use Google Slides). • Topics in the American 1940s: • historical events, • racial dynamics, • Ellison bio, • arts and music, • philosophy of the time/Ellison’s philosophical views • Politics of time

  4. Homework • Read and take notes (in your journal) on Chapter One of HRLLP.
