  6. Engobes • Slip with a color and flux additive • Traditional colors come from oxides • May be applied to leatherhard, greenware or bisque fired clay • Adds contrast, texture, pattern

  8. Scraffito • Means to scratch through, Itallian • Engobes or slip are painted on and then a tool is used to scratch through to reveal clay
