ACTION OFFICER COURSE CDR Lisa Lewis – COS March 2008 • Preparing Package • Hard copy and electronic version in eKM • Action Memo A short, concise informative paper written at the executive level either summarizing an issue or another document so senior leadership feel comfortable in signing the document. • Proposed response What ever is germane to tasker at hand. (e.g. Memo For, Action Memo with Tabs, Info paper, etc..) • SECNAV and OPNAV writing guidance provide examples • Background, substantiating documentation • Coordination

ACTION OFFICER COURSE CDR Lisa Lewis – COS March 2008 • Routing: • Follow chain of command for appropriate code review. • If tasker involved financial/legal implications ensure appropriate coordination with M8 or legal. • If your code is designated lead with other codes assisting, the lead code is responsible for package compilation and submission. • Document all comments and action in eKM • Route through Secretariat • Action Officer are responsible to track progress of tasker in eKM or with EAs, if not in eKM • Ensure package is submitted early enough to reach final destination on time.

  7. ACTION OFFICER COURSE CDR Lisa Lewis – COS March 2008 • Front Office Actions: • All packages go via COS office. Depending on content responses may be signed by COS, DSG, SG. • COS will coordinate package and may make necessary changes to content and format as necessary. If there questions Front Office will contact AO via code EA.
