Chamois & Ibex. In our mountains there are two typical animals named « chamois » and « ibex ». They are very agile and they can climb up very steep slopes or even the rocks. Usually they are rather timid but there are some places where you can easily observe them from a distance.

In our mountains there are two typical animals named « chamois » and « ibex ». They are very agile and they can climb up very steep slopes or even the rocks. Usually they are rather timid but there are some places where you can easily observe them from a distance.
In the valley of Thônes there are several ski resorts where people can ski or snowboard. The most famous ones are «Le Grand Bornand » and «La Clusaz ». Annecy was elected as the official candidate French city on March 18, 2009. The 6 July 2011, the international Olympic commitee will be announced the winner between Annecy, Munich (Germany) and Pyeongchang (South Corea). The French candidature respect nature and 65 per cent of the infrastructure is already in place. Good luck ANNECY!

A river named «Le Fier» flows through Thônes. It becomes very big in spring when the snow melts. We can’t swim in it because there is a lot of current and it’s chilling.
