  2. What is Simple Present? The Simple present tense is constituted by the verb’s Present Form, which has number , standing on its own. So a verb in this tense is either singular or plural.The spelling of the singular verb ends in s, esor ies(except for the verb Be) and the plural is without these endings.

  3. This tense expresses : a. Regular Actionb. Present Action c. Expected Future Action

  4. A. Regular Action; Habitual action. e.g.- He goes to work in the morning. B. Present Action; Action at this moment. E.g.- She is in the Library now. C. Expected Future Action; Action in the future that is expected, or certain, or about to happen. e.g.- Our English class starts in two days.

  5. Present Tense Has Two Patterns : A. Verbal: (Use S, Es, Ies)(+) Subject +Verb One + Object/Complement( -) Subject + Do/Does + Not + Verb One +O/C( ?) Do/Does + Subject + Verb One + O/CB. Nominal: (Use “To Be”)(+) Subject + To Be + Object/ Complement(- ) Subject + To Be + Not + Object/Complement( ?) To Be + Subject + Object/ Complement

  6. Examples: A. In Verbal (Use S, Es, Ies)(+) -She makes a cup of coffee every morning( -) -She does not make a cup of coffee every morning( ?) -Does she make a cup of coffee every morning? B. In Nominal (Use “To Be”)(+) –He is a Student in the UKM( -) –He is not a Student in the UKM( ?) –Is he a Student in the UKM?

  7. Summery: Present Tense is the form of a verb that expresses an action that is happening now or at the time of speaking.
