  1. RESEARCH PAPERS!!!! Mrs. Humphreys

  2. YOU NEED to WRITE THIS DOWN FOR EACH SOURCE…WORKs Cited • Author(s) name(s) • Title of article, chapter, speech, or web article • Page numbers • Title of book, website, magazine, newspaper, journal, movie, TV broadcast • City of publication • Name of publisher • Date of publication • Date you looked at the page • Web address (URL) (ex http://....) ***YES THE WHOLE THING! SO you CAN find it later. Options: Copy and paste into gaggle Send a copy to yourself • Medium (Print, Digital) • A QUOTE TO BACK UP YOUR ARGUMENT! • ****SEE the bottom of the article on TEL for a citation!!!!!

  3. Notes of Importance • Trustworthy Sources • DO NOT JUST GOOGLE SOMETHING! • .net .edu .org • Hook • Pick one side • Citations must be on rough draft! • Email a copy to yourself

  4. In Text Citations • When you use a quote, be SURE to put it in quotation marks and cite it! • EX) The text states that “INSERT QUOTE HERE” (Author’s name page number). • If you paraphrase something, put a citation after it. • EX) This is a summary and or a paraphrase of text (Author’s name page number).

  5. Format • Double-space the text of your paper, and use a legible font (e.g. Times New Roman). The font size should be 12 pt. • Set the margins of your document to 1 inch on all sides. • Indent the first line of paragraphs one half-inch from the left margin. • Create a header that numbers all pages consecutively in the upper right-hand corner, one-half inch from the top and flush with the right margin. • Use italics throughout your essay for the titles of longer works and, only when absolutely necessary, providing emphasis.

  6. First Page Format • Do not make a title page for your paper. • In the upper left-hand corner of the first page, list your name, your instructor's name, the course, and the date. Again, be sure to use double-spaced text. • Double space again and center the title. Do not underline, italicize, or place your title in quotation marks; write the title in Title Case (standard capitalization), not in all capital letters.

  7. First Page Format • Use quotation marks and/or italics when referring to other works in your title, just as you would in your text: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas as Morality Play; Human Weariness in "After Apple Picking“ • Double space between the title and the first line of the text. • Create a header in the upper right-hand corner that includes your last name, followed by a space with a page number; number all pages consecutively with Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3, 4, etc.), one-half inch from the top and flush with the right margin.
