ACCN Staff Support for Coalitions • Identify opportunities for financial support • Provide technical assistance • Foster program development, implementation and evaluation • Mentor OSU graduate students to develop evidence-based projects for the Appalachian population • Provide connection between researchers and partners to conduct community-based participatory research • Share ideas, new materials and resources across the coalitions

OSU Research & ACCN R24 - CBPR (Community Based Participatory Research) Strategies to Increase Colorectal Cancer Screening in Ohio Appalachia • Test CRC screening interventions in 12 Ohio counties in preparation for a full scale dissemination trial in 6 additional Appalachian states through the ACCN. • 3 Phase intervention • Media Campaign (will feature local CRC survivors on billboard, posters & newspaper) • Medical Chart Reminders - Short survey at clinic visit • Media Campaign & Medical Chart Reminders • Currently - Develop/solidify community partnerships, community needs assessment, and meet with community advisory board.

OSU Research & ACCN Focus Groups: Knowledge and Attitudes About the HPV Vaccine in Appalachia Ohio • Gain knowledge about attitudes, and acceptability of the HPV Vaccine at the individual and community level. • 23 focus groups conducted in 9 Appalachia Ohio counties • Preliminary results regarding knowledge, attitudes and barriers
