  3. Introduction The Holocaust was a very horrific and depressing period. About 55 million people died during this period. They all died because of one man: Adolf Hitler. He did some very cruel and horrendous things. Adolf Hitler ostracized an entire race of people by deliberately discriminating against everyone that was not of the Aryan race.

  4. General Facts • The Holocaust period were through the years of 1933-1945. • During the Holocaust, about 55 million people died. • The Holocaust period was during World War II. • Because of one man, there was a word added to the dictionary called genocide-which means the planned killing of an entire cultural or racial group of people. • The murder of Jews was particularly for no reason except that they were in fact Jewish.

Adolf Hitler • Adolf Hitler was born on April 20 1889. • His parents were Alois and Klara Hitler. • Alois Hitler died when Adolf was 15 and his mother, Klara, died 4 years later. • When Adolf landed himself in jail, he wrote a book called Mein Kampf which meant “My Struggle”. • In 1920, Hitler (at age 31) joined the National Socialist German Workers Party (Nazi Party) and soon became its leader.

Nuremburg Laws • These laws were created to exclude Jews from certain things. • The following are some of the laws: • Prohibited Jews from marring people of “German or related blood.” • Jews weren’t allowed to own buisnesses. • Jewish doctors were forbidden to treat the non-Jews. • Jewish lawyers weren’t allowed to practice law. • There many other laws besides these.

  7. Kristallnact • Many Jews were tortured, hurt, sent away from their homes, and/or killed. • Synagogues were burned and destroyed. • Jewish owned buildings were destroyed and windows were smashed. • This damage was that of the Nazis led by Adolf Hitler.

Ghettos • September 21, 1939- Reingard Heydrich told Schutz Staffeinel commanders in Poland that Jews were be confined to special areas called ghettos. • Ghettos were surrounded by barbed wire, brick walls, and armored guards. • Jews in rural areas had their property tooken away and were sent to ghettos. • The 2 largest ghettos were in Warsaw and Lodz. • In these ghettos were shortages of food and disease.

  9. Conclusion • In conclusion, the Holocaust was one of the worst tragedies in history. The damage done by one man is far too great. Adolf Hitler the tyrant to top all tyrants. His cruelty extends beyond our understanding. In the future, I hope we don’t ever experience something like this ever again.
