  3. Newchallenges • Changing structure of the global market • Crucial and fast technological progress • Necessity of form of integration • Catching up fast economies - BRIC, Asian tigers by adequate economic development • Aging population and new scale of social life

  4. Regional development in international scale? • Global market requires • Strong competitiveness • Tackling with fragmented and finite resources • New labor conditions • Effective multinational entities • Multi dimension movements • Flexible and friendly milieu for various actions

How to achieve it? • Ways for realization • Joining international programs - supra regional, European and Trans-European • Active position in international organizations • Building up or modernizing supra regional facilities and infrastructures as a possible element of larger ones • Joining LSF

Some Recommendations – lessons learnt • Targeted calls for “top-up” existing projects • Targeted calls on areas and topics of particular mutual interest • Targeted funds to research partnerships in the areas where the Region has a leading role to play at international level • Capacity building via targeted instruments for reinforcement of existing schemes, for example visiting scientists (PhDs, POST DOC) from INCO target countries

  16. What we could expect? • Providing sufficient resources • Enhancing the creation and accumulation of new kind of development • Bringing expertise and know how created elsewhere to the use by regional domestic actors

  17. What should be the aim? • Clear outlined results • Vision for future long term cooperation • Better dialog between partners • Need for more ambitious goals • Set up additional useful activities except mobility • Enriching the existing schemes
