Invention: CrayolaCrayons • In 1903 the 8 pack of crayons was invented • Since 1903 when an 8 pack of crayons was invented they have expanded in success in number of ways • In 1949 a 48 pack of crayons was invented • In 1958 a 64 pack of crayons with a built in crayon sharpener was invented • In 1972 florescent colors were added to the boxes • In 1993 the pack of 96 was invented • Also in 1993 the color “Flesh” (skin color) was changed to the name “Peach”

Inventor: Edwin Binney, Harold Smith • In the late 1800’s the Edwin Binney and Harold Smith founded the Binney & Smith, Inc • Binney & Smith first specialized in industrial colorings including pigments that made country barns red and automobile tires black • They also began making slate pencils for students • In 1902, at St. Louis World Exploration they won a gold medal for the product dustless chalk • In 1903, they invented the first box of yellow andgreen 8 pack of crayons
