  4. Family Life (continued) • 1891 family moved to La Coruña (Picasso begins to study at school of fine arts) • Picasso’s father helped his son to discover his artistic ability • 1896 family moved to Barcelona (Picasso became an advanced student at Royal Academy of San Fernando)

  5. Education • Drawing lessons at school in Malaga since the age of five • Taught by his father, an art teacher • Student at InstitutodaGuarda (classical art education) • Art academy La Lonja in Barcelona

  6. Movement/Style • Cubism • Impressionist • ‘blurred technique’ creates illusion of movement • Between 1899 and 1900 focused more on a romantic style rather than dry style • expressionism-shows emotion throughout art
