  3. THE CONTEXT OF A VOCABULARY WORD REFERS TO THE SENTENCE OR PARAGRAPH IN WHICH THE VOCABULARY WORD APPEARS. READERS SHOULD USE CONTEXT CLUES TO HELP DETERMINE THE MEANING OF A DIFFICULT WORD. CONTEXT CLUES ARE THE WORDS ‘AROUND’ EACH WORD. THESE WORDS MAY BE IN THE SAME SENTENCE, OR SAME PARAGRAPH. THEY ALL HELP TO DETERMINE THE MEANING OF A WORD THAT YOU MIGHT NOT UNDERSTAND.
