  2. About Me • Hi I am Kimberly Michelle Alice Octovia Neakok. I am 17 years old. I live in Point Lay, Alaska. I am still in school and stuck in school for another 2 or 3 years. And I am still thinking which college I would like to go to. Also when I am with my best friend I like to sing out loud and out of tune just for fun while walking around. And my favorite sports are Basketball, Football, Volleyball, Some Baseball.

  3. Why did you choose this career? • I choose massage therapy because it’s something different to do because my family doesn’t work as a massager well that I know of. They are like a health aide or working at the school, or working on summer jobs like clean up crew. And my grandma, and my best friend said I am pretty good at massaging.

  4. What is the average wage? • The average wage for a massage therapy is $11.47-$60.38 and the mean is $38.80.

  5. What are the main job duties? • The massage therapy is trained in the skillful manipulation of soft tissue, connective tissue, or body energy fields which changes, relaxes, circulation, nerve responses, or pattern of energy flow.

  12. Neuromuscular Therapy • The neuromuscular massage therapy is very specialized form of manual therapy. Also the neuromuscular therapy will be used to address five elements that cause pain: • Ischemia • Trigger Point • Nerve Compressions or Entrapment • Postural Distortion • Biomechanical Dysfunction

  13. Sports Massage • The sports massage is a special form of the massage and is typically used before, during, and after athletic events. The purpose of the massage is to prepare the athlete for peak performance, to drain away fatigue, relieve swelling, and to reduce muscle tension.

  14. Swedish Massage • The Swedish massage was developed in the 1700s and refers to a variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles, bones, and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart.

  15. Different Types of Massages There is more than 5 different types of massages. I have found more then I ever think of and heard of and most of them I didn’t know. Examples Lomi Lomi, Petrissage, Rolfing, Trigger Point, Tui Na Massage and Alexander Technique.

  16. Massage Tools Used • There is a massage tables and chairs, oils, lotions, and cream, massager equipment, spa and body treatment, and self care for the massage therapist. More massage tools are used during a massage not only the ones that are listed.
