The Deforestation in the Amazon

The Amazon rainforest, a vital ecosystem, faces severe threats from illegal logging, leading to biodiversity loss. Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is implementing measures to combat deforestation through stricter laws and the establishment of monitoring agencies. These initiatives aim to preserve the rainforest's beauty and ecological significance. Although progress has been noted, ongoing efforts are critical to sustaining the Amazon's future. This thesis examines the current state of deforestation, the socio-political context, and the effectiveness of measures taken to combat this environmental crisis.
