  1. Indian Rugs versus Turkish Rugs There are various kinds of rugs and carpets in the market and at times, it could be a little difficult for a layman to know the difference between all these types of rugs, which further makes it even more confusing as to what kind of rug one should go for. With that being said, Persia is known to have the finest craftsmanship of high quality, handknotted carpets. However, in today’s times Indian rugs and Turkish rugs have also gained immense popularity. Let’s look at the difference between these two popular kinds of carpets: Construction India Rugs are primarily handknotted which means each knot is handwoven knot by knot and inch by inch. Handknotted carpets are much more durable than machine made or handtufted carpets. On the other hand, Turkish rugs are beautiful but mostly handtufted or machine made which is less labor intensive. But given their high quality, Turkish rugs almost feel like handknotted rugs. Hand-knotted rugs are made by manual labor (only with hands), while hand- tufted rugs are made with the aid of “gun” that speeds up the knotting process of the yarn used for making the rug. Design/Pattern Indian carpets are mostly inspired by Persian patterns and motifs and involve intricate craftsmanship. While on the other hand, Turkish carpets are mainly contemporary and modern in design with different patterns and are ideal for todays modern interiors and home décor. Colors Indian carpets are usually made in bright, vibrant colors and are ideal for a space with light interiors. While on the other hand, Turkish rugs are more muted, subtle and perfect for a neutral toned room. Also, most Turkish rugs have chemical dyes. Pricing Since Indian rugs are primarily handknotted, they are slightly expensive while a Turkish rug is not expensive and is very affordable. Prices for carpets can range from a few hundred, to hundreds of thousands of dollars and depend upon many factors Material Most Indian rugs are made using fine New Zealand wool or Pure silk Rugs or even natural fibers like jute, sisal etc. Turkish rugs are mainly made in polypropelene .
