  3. Fear nothing • Nb. the scenarios of Healey and Johnson – very technical, perhaps concerning but still the same old values – service and encouragement. • Connection to information still the main focus • Client service is still the focus

  4. What then to do?

  5. Most importantly… Don’t hide!

  6. Proactivity the solution • Be obvious • Be seen • Be heard • Be first • Be everywhere (Infiltrate) • Be essential (Feed them)

  7. Put clients first • Meet their needs, not only as you see them, but as they do • Seek opinion • Communicate on every level • Acquire the Principal’s favourite authors • Become increasingly relevant

  8. So ….. Be obvious Be proactive Be involved Be watchful Be everywhere Be indispensable

  9. Above all…. Have a vision, Dare to Dream • Do plan for the future • Do aim to be around awhile • Do think big • Do communicate • Do consider the users

  10. Your library is a time machine, drive carefully
