Works of Roy • In 1949, Roy had his first gallery exhibition at the Chinese Gallery in New York. • Former jobs included: drawing teacher, engineering draftsman for a steel company, designed display windows for dept. stores, and drew B&W images for an instrument company. • Then in 1951, he began to take his work to galleries himself on the roof of his car.

  3. POP ART • considered an influential artist in POP ART. • POP ART: A form of art that depicts objects or scenes from everyday life and employs techniques of commercial art and popular illustration. • also experimented with painting styles of Abstract Expressionism and Cubism.

  4. Works of Roy His art began to evolve into a unique style. He painted “advertisement- like” paintings depicting consumer products. These were very simple and restricted to few colors.
