The people Jianchun Wang (simulation, test beam activities) Marina Artuso (overall coordination/electronicR&D) Steve Blusk (cooling Mechanics) Zhou Xing timepix studies/data flow simulation Alessandra Borgia, (test beams, data analysis) stationed at CERN starting in January 2010 Brian Maynard thermal simulation + Pdoc electronics R&D Bin Gui Fpga Applications Ray Mountain (diamond characterization, RF shield, irradiation program) + collaboration with electrical engineering dept Marina Artuso Velopix Workshop
Experimental facilities Machine shop Profilometer and AFM for precision surface scans Vacuum system to study detectors at low temperature/in vacuum Clean room equipped with probe station and semi-automatic wirebonder Marina Artuso Velopix Workshop
Experimental Facilities - II Electronics laboratory to design, prototype and characterize mixed analog/digital boards and detector assemblies Marina Artuso Velopix Workshop
Our interests • Simulation studies to optimize geometry/detector & electronics parameters • Investigate hybrid pixel option based on diamond sensor & compare with alternative sensor technologies • Study thermal properties of diamond as cooling substrates • Develop low mass RF shield • Test beam telescope and test beam/irradiation program to select sensor/electronics technology • Study of different data flow architecture & application of 3D vertical integration to our needs • Electronics for data concentration Marina Artuso Velopix Workshop
