  4. The Extreme pop up: An extreme pop up is where various different types of pop up mechanisms are used within one page to create a big desired effect, as seen in the books above and below.

  5. BOX CARD MECHANISM Interesting pop-up designs can be produced by making two cuts to a backing card and bending the card inwards so that it forms a small stand (inside the card). Drawings / images can be placed on the stand so that when the card is opened the image ‘pops’ up.  ROTARY or WHEEL CARD MECHANISMS  Rotary mechanisms can be used in interesting ways. The greetings card on the left allows the user to rotate a circular card disk. This changes the eyes on the front of the card. A brass split pin holds the disk to the card front but allows it be rotate.

  6. SLIDE MECHANISMS  Slide mechanisms can add parallel movement to a card model. The basic construction is shown below. This can make an impressive greetings card if an image is added to the card front and scenery drawn. MOUTH MECHANISM  The simple folding technique is ideal for forming a mechanism that unfolds when a card is closed. This could be the mouth of a cartoon or similar character. The stages are shown below and involve basic folding and cutting.
