  1. Why is Health And Safety Training Important in Construction? Health and safety should be vital considerations in the workplace across all industries, especially construction. Working at a construction site means having employees operating in precarious conditions at a grave risk of serious injuries and even death. Often, excavations and trenches collapse, burying or seriously injuring workers. Tools, types of machineries, and materials used in the construction industry also come with their own sets of dangers. Given such a vulnerable setup, it's vital that health and safety training be conducted in this industry.

  2. Construction sites are risky. Any construction site is a matter of concern from a safety perspective. It's a mess of holes in the ground, building in various stages of completion, scaffolding, stored up materials and equipment, deafening noise, hard manual labor and lots of impure air - making it an injury prone site and a health hazard if an employee is not overly cautious. Construction sites are prone to calamities and health issues. ● Slips ● Trips and falls ● Site vehicle mishaps ● Injuries from collapsing materials ● Accidents from moving objects ● Accidents from contact with overhead power lines ● Fatalities and injuries involving height related factors ● Repetitive, excessive noise can cause long-term hearing problems. ● Hand-arm vibration syndrome or 'blue finger' is a painful and debilitating disease of the blood vessels, nerves and joints that can be triggered by the prolonged use of vibrating power tools. ● Construction sites kick up a lot of dust and often invisible, fine, toxic mixtures of hazardous materials and fibers that can damage the lungs. Workers can suffer from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, and silicosis. Health and safety training should be a top priority.

  3. Management and workers can mitigate safety issues by taking the issue of safety very seriously. Every piece of equipment at the site must solely be used for its intended purpose. There should be zero tolerance for any other use of the equipment. Every construction site must have a construction site manager in charge of operations. To minimize injuries and accidents, the construction company must also enlist the support of an occupational health and safety specialist who will design and implement safety regulations. By implementing strict health and safety protocols and ensuring those protocols are constantly maintained, accidents will be prevented and dangerous threats won't be so portentous.
